A peaceful summer morning took a sharp turn for one Fresno resident when he woke up to find his Hyundai Venue missing from his driveway. The car had vanished overnight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Fresno Police Department responded quickly, entering the stolen vehicle\u2019s information into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) database. But this wasn\u2019t just any stolen car \u2013 it was equipped with a LoJack GPS tracking system, which made all the difference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The case was escalated to an auto theft detective after the victim informed officers about the LoJack GPS system. The detective reached out to a LoJack law enforcement liaison to confirm the vehicle\u2019s activation, and it was entered into LoJack LE, a no-cost platform that allows law enforcement to live-track stolen vehicles equipped with LoJack GPS devices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Real-time GPS data revealed that the stolen Hyundai had traveled from Fresno to Millerton Lake. Detectives immediately adjusted their strategy and headed toward the lake. While en route, they tracked the vehicle\u2019s movement in real time via LoJack LE, observing that the car had left the lake\u2019s parking area and driven to a nearby convenience store.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As the driver was pumping gas into the stolen Hyundai, Fresno detectives were able to intercept and block the vehicle. Three juvenile suspects were detained at the scene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
