A Compton resident experienced every vehicle owner\u2019s nightmare when she stepped outside her home and discovered her Jeep Wrangler had been stolen overnight \u2013 only a pile of glass marked where the vehicle once sat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The theft was promptly reported to the Los Angeles County Sheriff\u2019s Department \u2013 Compton Station, and the vehicle\u2019s information was entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) database. Fortunately, the Jeep was equipped with a LoJack GPS tracking system, pre-installed by Selma Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Selma, California.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The victim contacted the LoJack 24-Hour Stolen Vehicle Recovery Hotline, where a trained team verified the law enforcement report and quickly activated tracking through LoJack LE, a platform designed specifically for law enforcement to live-track stolen vehicles equipped with LoJack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Upon activation, LoJack LE revealed a challenging twist \u2013 the Jeep had already crossed the U.S. border into Mexico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While many might assume the vehicle was gone for good, LoJack\u2019s service doesn\u2019t stop at tracking signals. Behind the scenes is a team of Law Enforcement Liaisons who work closely with agencies across jurisdictions, including cross-border collaboration to assist in vehicle recovery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this case, a LoJack Liaison engaged the California Highway Patrol\u2019s Mexican Liaison Unit and provided precise GPS coordinates to the Fiscal\u00eda General del Estado in Mexicali, Baja California.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thanks to real-time tracking and cross-agency coordination, Mexican authorities located the stolen Jeep exactly where LoJack had indicated \u2013 parked in a residential neighborhood. The vehicle was secured and moved to a holding facility while arrangements were made for its repatriation to the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
